Designed for expert and beginner alike, this guide presents each species in a clear, informative format that provides photos and illustrations of the plant, an easily understood description, distinctive field marks, preferred habitats, and tidbits on the plant’s ecology and cultural use. An innovative, easy-to-use key allows the user to select flower color, leaf type, and other characteristics to quickly identify unknown plants. You are on a hike, look down and see a flower with yellow petals and opposite leaves but don’t know its name. It could be tall and thorny, sticky with black berries, sweet-smelling with square stems. Just select what you do know on the app and all plants matching your description will be shown. Wonderful!
This is a super app for folks who love all things flora. Has a beautiful interface for identifying flowers in the Greater Yellowstone area (and beyond, as I see much overlap with my travels in the rest of the Northern Rockies). Photos that scale; simple methods of keying flowers out; excellent search tools; easy for me, a relative beginner, to ID plants, but tons of info for the expert, as well. Needs no cell connection so perfect for when you're "out there". TWO PETALS UP--WAY UP!
This app provides easy-to-use search stepping stones and incredible pictures. Excellent app that enables the user to grasp the unique plant species endemic to the Yellowstone area.

This is so easy to use while on a hike. What a pleasure to be able to identify all the wild flowers that have been unknown to me before. It has filled our hikes with a greater appreciation of nature's garden. :-)
I used this app much of the summer while doing vegetation surveys in and around the park. It was good but missing many, many grass species and some forbs. Much lighter than carrying books deep in the woods.
Have found this app so easy to use and so informative while hiking with my kids trying to identify Spring wildflowers! So well-designed!
Search is brilliant. Photos show detail and growth habit...this really is the best field guide available. I wish all guides were this well designed.
So easy to identify plants. We use it on hikes- great easy app. to teach kids and adults to appreciate nature and it's diversity. Not just limited to Yellowstone. We use it in Colorado too.
